Findings from two CSSLRV research projects featured at Stockholm Criminology Symposium

CSSLRV Director Myrna Dawson presented two studies at the Stockholm Criminology Sympoisum today. With Danielle Tyson and Susa Zielin, Australian researchers from Deakin University, Myrna Dawson and CSSLRV researcher Anna Johnson conducted research entitled “Gender, parenthood and justice: Examining court outcomes for mothers and fathers who kill their children in Australia and Canada.”

Research on gender-based indicators for femicide presented in Stockholm

CSSLRV Director Myrna Dawson presented research conducted with Michelle Carrigan titled, “Gender-based indicators for femicide: Understanding their utility in social science research,” at the Stockholm Criminology Symposium in Sweden.

Dawson examines impact of gender in courts at 3rd Addressing Filicide conference in Italy

Centre Director Myrna Dawson presented preliminary findings today in Italy from research she conducted with Danielle Tyson, Susan Zielin, and Anna Johnson titled, “Sentencing in filicide cases: the impact of gender roles on judicial decision-making” at the third Addressing Filicide conference in Prato, just outside Florence, Italy.

Dawson and Jaffe keynote speakers at Italy conference on filicide

CSSLRV Director Myrna Dawson delivered a keynote today with collaborator, Dr. Peter Jaffe, Western University, entitled, “Paternal Filicide & Domestic Violence: The Need for Risk Assessment, Safety Planning, and Risk Management to Protect Children” at the 3rd Addressing Filicide conference in Prato, Italy.

Dawson serves as external examiner for Sweden PhD defence

Centre Director, Dr. Myrna Dawson, was in Stockholm, Sweden today to serve as an opponent or external examiner for the defence of Shilan Caman’s doctoral dissertation entitled Intimate Partner Homicide Rates and Characteristics.

Statistics Canada released a chapter of the Women in Canada publication entitled “Women and the Criminal Justice System”
