Ombudsman releases report on femicide of older women

On World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), the Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime released its report, ‘Not the Golden Years: Femicide of Older Women in Canada. The report authored by Sociology Professor Myrna Dawson looks at national and global research on the victimization of older women, identifying common characteristics of these deaths and those involved. The report concludes with 18 recommendations for moving forward with research and prevention for older women who are often marginalized and vulnerable to violence.
